MESSAGE FROM THE JAMAICA CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY
A n airport holds a unique pride of place as the first point of entry to a country or other locale. It is, simultaneously, the embodiment of a safe and efficient aviation sector and the precursor to new, fulfilling experiences or welcoming returns and homecomings.
As the operator of one of Jamaica’s main international airports, the Norman Manley International Airports Limited (NMIAL) continues to distinguish itself through an environment that remains an ambassadorial corridor to Jamaica and a platform of operational and service excellence. Over its years of existence, NMIAL has made steady progress along a trajectory of expanded services, operational sustainability, niche-building and facilities modernisation. Through these and other initiatives, NMIAL has affirmed its mission of operating “a safe, profitable and environmentally friendly airport, ...[that provides] .... world-class service with a uniquely Jamaican character.”
The JCAA is pleased to acknowledge the pre-eminence of safety, integrity, adaptability and trust as hallmarks of NMIAL’S continued success. As evidenced through the airport’s commendable performance and its evolving business model, these values, along with the implementation of established national and international safety standards, continue to anchor the foundations for NMIAL’S ascendancy as a world-class hub and gateway of choice for travellers and other aviation industry stakeholders.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, Executive Management team and the staff of the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA), I am, therefore, honoured to extend sincere congratulations to the NMIAL on the achievement of 15 monumental years as an efficient and preferred gateway of choice for Jamaica and the Caribbean. Your hybrid of products and services, as well as the professionalism and dedication of your staff, continues to foster a positive airport experience and an inherent culture of excellence in customer service, safety and efficiency.
While milestones, such as the current, represent appropriate junctures for reflection on the entity’s achievements and successes, they also provide opportunities to analyse the experiences and lessons that are a sure heritage of learning for charting an even more successful future. In this context, the JCAA notes the conjoined efforts of all stakeholders to enhance our industry’s current and future states, to ensure its signature reliability, efficiency and speed, and most importantly, the safe conveyance of passengers, goods and services.
The JCAA extends continued wishes for the NMIA’S success, as all stakeholders collaborate to ensure a safe and efficient aviation sector that supports and serves Jamaica.
