PM Holness in Atlanta

-

PRIME Minister Andrew Holness left the island on Thursday for Atlanta, Georgia in the United States, where he is to deliver the keynote address at the inaugural Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (Jamcham) of Atlanta awards ceremony today.

A release from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) said the trip comes as Holness intensifies his engagement of stakeholders and members of the Diaspora to encourage investments in Jamaica.

The trip also comes ahead of the eighth biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference, which will take place June 16-20, in Kingston, the release said.

According to OPM, the diaspora has been a key partner in working to improve the social and educational needs of Jamaicans through philanthropic and outreach programmes and in promoting the country.

During his trip, Prime Minister Holness is expected to hold meetings with the leadership of Atlanta as well as members of the Atlanta business community.

The prime minister is scheduled to return to the island tomorrow.

Minister of National Security Dr Horace Chang is overseeing the Government in the prime minister’s absence.
