Magnum Xplosion to rock Guyana

- — By Kevin Jackson

SPICE, Konshens and Ding Dong will be in Guyana for this evening’s staging of the first Magnum Xplosion stage show at Guyana’s National Park.

“The objective of our Magnum Xplosion series has always been to connect with our consumers in the most impactful way. Magnum is a major supporter of dancehall and we believe that through the Xplosion stage show and club tour series we are able to spread that dynamic culture throughout the region. For the last 20 years, Magnum has committed to supporting brazen, bold events and the Magnum Xplosion Series is a continuation of that,” Kamal Powell , Magnum regional brand manager, told the Jamaica Observer.

Powell explained how the performers are selected for each regional event.

“We want to ensure the best experience for our patrons and consumers. We do extensive research in each territory to find out what artistes have the greatest influence and who will leave the best impression. We believe we have selected a great group of artistes to star the series this year and are positive we will leave a large entertainment footprint across the region,” he said.

Determined to top last year’s staging which featured thrilling performances from soca artiste Bunji Garlin, Aidonia and Ding Dong paired with local acts Timeka Marshall and Jomo, this year’s event will add a sound clash element. The Magnum Xplosion Sound Clash element will pit the top local disc jocks against each other in four weeks of competition for a spot on the Magnum Xplosion Stage.

The event, which promises to excite patrons, is the first of five stops for the series as it moves through Guyana, Trinidad, Barbados, St Lucia and Suriname.

Powell explained how the company plans to top last year’s execution.

“I think with every great event, eventually the struggle will become outdoing the previous staging. However, we are entertainment professionals and we know amazing events and experiences. This year we have added a number of consumer-centred elements to ensure the most memorable stage show experience. We have made several improvements to the previous formula and this year Magnum Tonic Wine celebrates its Big 20th anniversary, so there are tons of surprise elements,” he said.
