IMPRESSIVE FURNISHINGS & Tropical Colours

-

Consider this 5,129 square feet of luxurious living space, three-storey, fully-furnished Russell Heights townhouse for sale or rent. It’s spacious with four bedrooms; four bathrooms; helper’s quarters; a semi-open plan kitchen; impressive living space; and a 16 kva generator that’s powerful enough to keep the house lit, without the use of air conditioners, when there’s a power outage. The corner unit is located within a gated community which has round-the-clock, on-site security and a swimming pool.

The property’s architecture incorporates Victorian and Georgian influences. The building also boasts large Bermuda shutters, wide French windows and balconies on each upper level. This home is configured with multiple patios, sitting, study and formal and casual dining areas. The large lower level with bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, bar and large family/entertaining area opens to the garden. Interior decorator Eroleen Andersonpowell recently had the task of redecorating this Russell Heights home and took Style Observer (SO) on a tour.

Entrance

The entrance foyer gives way to an

array of attractive furnishings and accessories. An oversized print saturated with green hues evoking life, nature and energy; and drapes that play off the colours of life (green and yellow). Off the entrance is a bright and welcoming patio. Outfitted with furniture upholstered in luxurious fabrics, the space is ideal for relaxation and entertainment. The patio opens up from the reception room and the dining room and is tied together by sunny yellow tones and the use of transitional furniture.

Dining Room

The well-appointed dining room flows seamlessly off the patio and reception room. The dining table seats eight and the yellow embossed chairs with a raised velvet motif add a dramatic look on otherwise traditional chairs. Red accents are used to brighten the walnut stained table and complement yellow dining chair upholstery.

Kitchen

Large whitewashed cabinets with a concrete range hood over the stove contrast against the travertine tiles used as a backsplash and accent trim. The Shaker-style cabinets were crowned against the ceiling thus adding height to the space. Chartreuse window treatments were created from two prints — stripes for the blinds and floral for the pelmets.

Living Room

The space was intentionally made more vibrant and the eyes are taken on a visual journey of discovery. Bright turquoise hues, green, yellow and a splash of red were combined in the living room to create a wow factor. These pops of colour contrast against subdued ivory that is seen in the drapes, leather sofa and rug. All the drapes and brilliant turquoise accent chairs were manufactured by Anderson-powell’s team.

Sideboards

An oversized sideboard was added to the opposite side of the living room to hold china, cutlery and wine. Above it is an oversized mirror which fills the otherwise blank wall. Another, a bevelled wooden version, is located in the entrance foyer and has a large pineapple vase with grass blades atop.

Basement Level

Vibrant blues were used in the basement — from the reupholstered royal blue dining chairs to the family room sectional. The sectional was upholstered in four fabrics to create diversity in the space and a white shag rug was added to make the area a bit decadent. Leftover fabrics were used to make a tufted ottoman which doubles as a coffee table. The bathrooms are all-white with gold cabinet hardware and plumbing fixtures. Old world charm and elegance.

Master Bedroom

Spacious with an all-white bathroom with gold accents and plumbing. There’s a large walk-in closet (which woman doesn’t want a space to showcase clothing, shoes and handbag collection?) and a fabulous private patio, perfect for a quiet morning cup of coffee.
