It’s hard to miss fashion blogger Erica Corlett at an event. The Bronx, New York, resident was on The Rock recently for a few themed series events; Frenchmen, Soirée SPF, Marbana, etc. There was lots to gab about in between sips of Johnnie Walker Black splashed with coconut water.

Invariably The Breakfast Club (105.1 FM) for the latest that’s happening in the news, music, celebrity lifestyle, weather and fashion.

Name your favourite place to stay in Jamaica, and why?

One of my favourite places to stay in Jamaica is Strawberry Hill. I love the tranquillity it has to offer, great customer service, and it’s very relaxing. The view is absolutely amazing as well, which affords a Zen-like calm.

Where do you go to relax and unwind?

Usually, when I want to relax or unwind I hit the gym to clear my mind, or head to the city (Manhattan) for an outdoor drink or brunch ... whether it is a rooftop setting or sidewalk seating/view to people-watch, browse the stores or boutiques for the latest in the fashion world or see what’s in Vogue or other fashion magazines.

Whom do you call for a good time in your hometown?

I would call my girls, meet up for a cup of coffee at Starbucks so we can plan an outing or gossip on the phone, etc.

What is your next big project at work?

Currently, I don’t have any big projects at work, but personally, I’m working on being a personal stylist to a few of my friends. I would love to design a line of gym wear, if possible.

What’s that one thing that you reference for inspiration, and why?

The one thing that I refer to for inspiration is my kids. They remind me what it’s like to be happy with the simple things in life!

Who is your hero?

My grandmother. She was an exceptional woman. I miss her dearly!

I am the woman I am because...

...of my mom and grandmother. They made tremendous sacrifices for me and my siblings. I grew up with strong, independent black women who made sure we wanted for nothing.

Heels or flats?

Flats.

Jeans or an LBD?

An LBD.

Go-to designer/s? Why?

My go-to designers are Self-portrait and Zimmermann. Both designers take so much pride in their craft. I love their aesthetic and all the details that combine in making each piece amazing and unique!

Share one piece of advice for a youngster with an interest in fashion.

Think outside the box and dress according to your body type and sense of fashion. Fashion is forever changing so don’t worry about what others think of your fashion sense. Just be you because everyone else is taken!
