Second time around for D Major

- BY KEVIN JACKSON

SINGER D Major is eyeing next year to release his second album. The project, which is at an advanced stage of production, is yet to be titled.

“We are looking at releasing the album some time next year, and it will showcase my growth as an artiste,” said D Major.

The album will be out six years after Its

Major, his debut, was released by Penthouse Records. That set had collaborations with Lady Saw and Busy Signal.

Level Up, D Major’s recent single, is produced by Sound Bank Music out of

Sweden.

Said D Major, “The inspiration behind the song was all about the beat and the rhythm. When I heard the rhythm, it felt like a club/ party mood, so I began to write lyrics to fit the whole mood.”

It has been a decade since D Major (real name Damian Codlin) pursued a solo career. A former member of the group Q-T, he is best known for songs such as Can’t Get

Enough, Real Know Real, and covers of

John Lennon’s Woman and Bonnie Raitt’s I

Can’t Make You Love Me.

He believes he has matured as an artiste.

“I have evolved a lot more musically and I have been exploring a lot more genres and different sounds to be a versatile artiste. I bring melodies, flows, vocal versatility, and witty lyrics, with messages of love and inspiration,” D Major said.
