FRANKFIELD, Clarendon — Four schools, led by defending champions Clarendon College, can book their spots in the second round of the ISSA/WATA dacosta Cup football competition today.

Clarendon College, former champions Frome Technical, as well as Mcgrath High have their own destinies in their hands and will advance with wins, while Annotto Bay High, who are not playing today, will advance if Brimmervale High beat Tacky High in Zone J.

Thirty-seven return-round games are down to be played across all 15 zones as schools seek to rev up their quests for second-round places.

In addition to Frome Technical and Mcgrath, Manchester High will also be trying to extend perfect win streaks, while Brown’s Town High and Ocho Rios High will meet in a Zone I top-of-thezone clash.

Clarendon College lead Zone H with seven points and will take on Edwin Allen for the second time in a week, after edging them 1-0 in Chapelton a week ago.

A win for the champions would see them secure their place in the next round as they could not finish lower than second place.

Frome Technical are arguably the best team in the country as, in addition to winning all five games played, they are yet to concede a goal, only the second team with a ‘clean sheet’ in every game played with Manning’s School the other,— but the Zone D team drew one of their five games.

A sixth win today would see Frome Technical clinch their second-round place from Zone B.

Mcgrath High are having their best season in years and a win today over lastplaced Enid Bennett would see them get out of the first round for the first time since 2005, when they won the zone.

They edged Enid Bennett 2-1 last week and will be seeking a fourth-straight win today, while Ben Francis KO champions Charlemont High, who are in second place, will meet Dinthill Technical who are yet to score a point in the other game.

Despite being idle, Annotto Bay can also advance today if Brimmervale High beat Tacky High, as their 15 points would be enough to secure their place in the top two.

Ocho Rios High and Brown’s Town are tied at the top of Zone I on 10 points each but Ocho Rios, who lead on goal difference, had won the first game 3-1 and will seek to sweep their season series.
