Police should investigate Mr Tomlinson’s claim of mob attack
Dear Editor,
Having shared my opinion on the importance of protecting our culture, and the realities of the aggressive nature of the LGBT agenda, I have been accused by Mr Maurice Tomlinson of inciting violence against members of the LGBT community. In fact, Mr Tomlinson has levelled the same accusation against the Montego Bay Mayor Homer Davis, a pastor, and anyone who dares to speak out against him.
The Love March Movement issued the following press release on Tuesday, October 8, 2019: We “categorically denounce all violence against persons. We therefore wish to express our concern that in an article titled ‘Mobay Pride sues Mayor Davis, Municipal Corporation’, published in The Gleaner on September 29, 2019, a prominent homosexual man reported that he was “mobbed and attacked by vendors who support the mayor, while he stood outside the Cultural Centre two Thursdays ago”.
Every act of violence, especially a mob attack, must be taken seriously. However, details of the incident have not been forthcoming, although the said man has repeated such a claim of violence twice in the local newspapers.
We therefore call upon the Area 1 Police, based in Montego Bay, to promptly investigate this matter and to bring alleged perpetrators to justice. Furthermore, we ask the Jamaica Constabulary Force to make public the outcome of such investigations.
With Tomlinson perpetually claiming violence against himself and the LGBT community, we hope that the JCF will take this matter seriously. Reports of violence in the media should not go uninvestigated.
