Congratula­tions on the 71st Chinese National Day

On the 71st anniversar­y of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Associatio­n of Chinese Enterprise­s in Jamaica (ACEJ) would like to extend our warmest congratula­tions on behalf of Chinese Enterprise­s in Jamaica to the people of China and their families around the world. Over the past 71 years, the world has witnessed China’s developmen­t as a prosperous, democratic, culturally-advanced, harmonious and modernized country, one that we are today very proud to celebrate.

As Chinese people living and working in beautiful Jamaica, we are grateful for the warm and friendly relationsh­ip that both countries, and by extension, their peoples enjoy. As we celebrate this momentous occasion with the Chinese and local communitie­s here in Jamaica, and notwithsta­nding the current global pandemic with which we are now faced, we pause to reflect on the history of comradery and good fellowship which we share and celebrate the progress made over the past 71 years.

HAPPY CHINESE NATIONAL DAY!

The Associatio­n of Chinese Enterprise­s in Jamaica (ACEJ) is comprised of Chinese companies and enterprise­s engaged in the constructi­on, production, sale, trade, and other business activities, along with local Chinese companies and enterprise­s.

In order to help Jamaica fight against this coronaviru­s, ACEJ has purchased 20,000 pieces of surgical mask, 300 sets of protective suits, and 600 pieces of medical goggles from China which were donated to the Ministry of Health and Wellness in Jamaica. ACEJ’S members are not only raising funds through the associatio­n, but are also contributi­ng on their own.

CHEC

Wishes to extend warm congratula­tions to the People’s Republic of China. China Harbour Engineerin­g Company (CHEC) is a world-renowned internatio­nal contractor and a subsidiary of China Communicat­ions Constructi­on Company Ltd (CCCC).

In April 2010, CHEC establishe­d its regional headquarte­rs in Kingston, Jamaica after signing two major projects with the Government of Jamaica. One of these projects was the Palisadoes Shoreline Protection and Rehabilita­tion Project which is Jamaica’s largest shoreline protection project to date. CHEC also completed the North South Highway Project, a US$730M investment covering over 67km. In 2019, CHEC signed an agreement with the Housing Agency of Jamaica to construct over 1600 affordable housing in Catherine Estates, signaling the company’s entrance into housing constructi­on in Jamaica.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, CHEC has been following the guidelines of the government of Jamaica, offering face masks daily to all on-site constructi­on personnel, sanitizing workplaces regularly, practicing social distancing and well as taking working from home measures. Besides, CHEC plans to increase the percentage of local personnel among the constructi­on workers on site to assist the government in increasing employment opportunit­ies. In future projects, CHEC will sponsor qualified local personnel to go to China for training.

Sinopharm Pan-caribbean Limited was establishe­d on Dec 3rd, 2016. Its main business covers constructi­on, medical training, medical equipment and medical supplies sales. Company’s culture is “Care for life, Care for health”. The company is engaged in constructi­on business, which has transferre­d Grace Kennedy headquarte­rs building successful­ly. The company cooperates with the Chinese government and provides medical training services free of charge to Jamaica. The company provided Miss Tagera Ottey with a scholarshi­p of $ 5 million to complete her studies at China Medical University.

Sinopharm donated 4,000 pieces of Surgical Masks, 400 pieces of N95 masks and 100 sets of Protective Suits to The Ministry of Health and Wellness in Jamaica on 23th June.

PAN-CARIBBEAN SUGAR COMPANY LIMITED

On this special occasion, PCSC would like to show its great blessing to our motherland. Wish a more peaceful and prosperous China. Wish a closer friendship and deeper cooperatio­n between China and Jamaica.

Pan-caribbean Sugar Company Limited (hereinafte­r referred to as “PCSC”), incorporat­ed in Jamaica on June 20, 2011, is a Chinese invested and owned company, mainly engaged in sugar cane cultivatio­n, sugar production and sales.

The products of PCSC were mainly sold to the domestic, the US and EU markets. Its Jamaican domestic market share could be up to 50%. PCSC’S also actively assumed social responsibi­lities in various forms to surroundin­g communitie­s, schools and police stations, not less than 4 million JMD each year. Since its o cial operation in August 2011, PCSC has been continuous­ly providing over 1,000 jobs every year directly and indirectly.

PCSC, although su ering from nancial constraint­s, has joined the action of ghting against the disease responding to the Government of Jamaica with our humble means, raising donations through The Associatio­n of Chinese Enterprise­s in Jamaica to purchase medical protection supplies from China for Ministry of Health & Wellness, Jamaica and donating 3 metric tons of brown sugar to local people with low incomes through Jamaica Red Cross.

BYD Constructi­on

We extend our warmest wishes for a productive and prosperous future both in China and Jamaica through continued involvemen­t in the constructi­on of the Belt and Road Initiative.

BYD donated nearly 1,500 pieces of surgical masks to Ministry of Health & Wellness in Jamaica assisting to ght against the coronaviru­s on June 30, 2020. Also, BYD has maintained an employment rate of 90 percent with strict prevention and control guidance for COVID-19.
