-

With the release of a brand new single “Revolution” featuring Capelton, Makonnen - the Spaceagerasta - has confirmed his career as a top tier music producer and solo artist, following his recent celebrated success with songs on three-times Billboard No.1 project ‘Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica’. Best known in Jamaica as the 13-year-old technology genius who was appointed Youth Consultant to the Government, Makonnen began his music career at age 7 years composing the theme song for the film “Kids Paradise’ that won an Audience Award at the Chicago Children’s Film Festival. The song was sung by Susanne Couch and produced by Tyrone Downie of the Wailers. While still Technology Consultant, Makonnen spoke at a special United Nations seminar to establish a Caribean Digital Diaspora initiative, and was invited back to the UN to speak on the use of technology in Jamaican music. Makonnen was discovered by legendary musical giants Steely & Cleevie and did an internship at Studio 2000, where he started his foray into mainstream music by recording music with DJ’S Aidonia, Erup, Mr Peppa and Wasp, who were upcoming artists at the time. As producer, he lists ‘Pain” by Capelton featuring Bobo Zarro and Contractor as his favourite production that was a smash hit for Capelton, who credits Makonnen as gving him a hit every time they work. Other hits include ‘10th Stage’ by Vybz Kartel, “Way We Roll” “Poverty” & “Ghetto Life” by Masika and ‘Jailhouse Rock’ by Teflon. Makonnen has also been involved with production on songs for Lil Wayne, Sean Paul, Akon, Rick Ross, Future, Wiz Khalifa, Third World, The Marley brothers Steven, Damion, Julian and Kymani and more.. Recently he has done work for other production labels that spawned massive hits for Teejay, Jahvilani, Chronic Law and Munga Honorable to name a few. In the meantime Makonnen has decided to make a greater effort on being a performance artist. After the success of his first singles ‘Red Eye’ and ‘Real Talk” featuring Rseenal in 2016, he produced a solo mix-tape album ‘Rockers Revolution’ working with his production team Natural High Music, that established his name as a solo artist. These songs were noticed by music celebrities at home and abroad, including Justin Beiber and the Major Lazer crew. Not content to rest on his laurels, Makonnen is diligently working on his debut album with the release of the single “Revolution” and looking forward to many more highlights in his musical career.
