MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT, KENISHA DWYER POWELL
2020 marks 56 years of sterling service from the Manchester Chamber of Commerce to the business community; we are proud and humbled by this achievement. I remember joining the Chamber as a member and I was always in awe of the professionalism of the board, the involvement of the members and the engagement of the general parishioners. Fast forward to years later when I got the opportunity to serve in the capacity of President, I had already benefitted directly from the wisdom and guidance of quite a few past presidents as Lovel Mccook, Wendy Freckleton & Garfield Green with Jean Anderson (the only surviving founder) always providing well needed direction and advise. Today we continue on with the mission to be the “voice of businesses and advocacy” as we work to register economic growth and development for our beloved parish. Our members remain the heart of why we do what we do and we continue to enjoy - strong leadership, team work and engagement from the board of directors - the advice and mentoring from the membership and past directors – and one past director that jumps to my mind readily is Mrs. Doreth Jones - the collaboration from respective agencies in the parish - the support from our sponsors and well wishers - the support from the All Island Chamber of Commerce As we look ahead to another 56 years with all the promises for more opportunities, greater challenges and bigger celebrations, I encourage us to always remain focused on team work, collaborations and keeping our members and economic growth and development at the centre of all we do. It is that team work that has caused us together to tackle this pandemic in a meaningful way, strategize on best practices and the way forward for our businesses, re-engineer the way we serve all at the same time having an open mind to accept changes and respond accordingly. So….in our native language and the spirit that permeates our members meeting….”mi tenk all a unuh aah mek wi celebrate aaah feel gud aaah memba seh wi have a far way lef fi guh” President, Kenisha Dwyer Powell.
