Teff U Deff is hot with Skaaachy

- — Kevin Jackson

DEEJAY Teff U Deff believes his foray into music was ordained. His grandfather was a musician.

“My grandfather was a good friend of Bob Marley and he used to be in the studio a lot with him, playing bass guitar. He was also a part of the Fat Man rhythm section. So I think that is where the music came from. But it wasn’t until I was about seven years old that I started picking up the microphone,” he told the Jamaica

Observer.

Teff U Deff is looking to make a name for himself in dancehall music. The Bronx, New York-based artiste is relying on his latest single

Skaaachy to become that breakthrough hit that he craves.

Skaaachy was produced by U Deff Records and released last year. The song speaks about the deejay’s lifestyle.

“The inspiration for the song came from the lifestyle we were living. Clean every day and money in my pocket. So I found a name that fits the lifestyle best. Skaaachy!

He continued, “Skaaachy is the new wave, the new slang, it’s a lifestyle and Skaaachy is the new definition for hot. So I’m bringing a new sound to the dancehall table.”

Teff U Deff works with up-andcoming producers, a move he says allows him to be creative and express his thoughts musically. Among the producers that he has worked with are Dan Sky Records and Tee Maine Records.

Social Media and On to The Money are among his previous releases.

Born Curtis Ricardo Knight, Teff U Deff is from Eltham Park in Spanish Town, St Catherine. He moved to the United States at 12.
