Self Confidence within Girls

Hi I’m Monique Nolan. As a girl growing up into this corrupted society with both positive and negative criticisms, I have grown to realise that confidence is the key to survival, especially for us as girls growing up in this world.

One day I felt as if I could never accomplish anything. My confidence was gone due to how my teeth looked, as they are currently chipped. In the midst of this, people would call me names and say such hurtful things to me, such as, “you have a knife in your mouth” or “how are you are so ugly?” Things like this would put me down and make me feel less of a person.

I felt really bad, until one day I saw a business woman who has the same issue as me with her teeth and she said, “It’s the teeth in your mouth that will make you the successful young girl you want to be.” Since that day I started to feel confident, just like the lady said. She told me to always to keep my head high and never look back. She was so inspirational.

The other day when I rose from my bed to start the day, I looked in the mirror and thought I was looking at a beautiful blooming red rose from the garden. I felt confident. I held my head high and I never even looked back. In fact, I felt unstoppable; everything about my personality from that day spoke confidence.

Even though in the past I felt as if I could never accomplish anything, look where I am now, with just one touch of inspiration. I have achieved so much, thanks to this inspirational lady, my mother, my father, my friends and other relatives, who have helped me break through this rough journey.

This is my message to you, as young girls, confidence is the future to the world. Don’t let the negative criticisms affect you in a bad way. Instead let it be a stepping stone for you to be successful young ladies of tomorrow and please, just be you. Always have CONFIDENCE within yourself. Remember, don’t let others determine your future, so young ladies let us rise up and be confident!
