VICTORIASMEDALLION OFF THE MARK

Four-year-old bay filly

Victoriasmedallion (Silver Medallion –

Image Empress), after 17 attempts, was able to find her way in front when the winning post arrived in a native-bred four-year-old and upward Maiden Condition Race over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m).

The Leroy Tomlinson-owned and trained Victoriasmedallion was hustled up at the start by jockey Tevin Foster to take the early lead ahead of Sweet Curlin (Javaniel Patterson) and Joyful (Raddesh Roman).

Going into the half-mile turn, Victoriasmedallion allowed Joyful to put the head in front before regaining the lead at the top of the lane.

Victoriasmedallion had to withstand the late surge of 60-1 outsider Blue Seas (Omar Simpson), winning the race by half-length.

Conundrum (Andre Powell) came from far behind to get third place as the final time was recorded at 1:09.3.

DEN STREET JUST HOLDS ON

Trained by Jason Dacosta and ridden by Anthony Thomas, Den Street (Northern Giant – All For Pleasure) scored back-to-back wins in a three-year-old and upwards Claiming ($750,000-$600,000) contest at six furlongs (1,200m).

It was smooth sailing for Den Street at the off as the four-year-old bay gelding sat just behind Lalala Bamba (Youville Pinnock) with Azaria (Paul Francis) travelling in third. Approaching the distance, Den Street joined Lalala Bamba on the front end before taking up the running at the top of the straight.

Soon after Den Street got rid of Lalala Bamba, he had to fight off the challenge of Azaria in the final stages of the race to win by a head at the wire. Lalala Bamba was third in a final time of 1:13.3.

Having not raced since his victory on July 5 of last year, Bin Laden (Storm Craft – Elle’s Pegasus) returned and easily put away rivals in a Restricted Allowance V contest for five year olds and upwards over seven furlongs (1,400m).

Trained by Fitzroy Glispie and ridden by Anthony Thomas, Bin Laden, who raced without the tonguetie after the equipment came loose at the starting gates, broke prominently with the leaders before taking over the front ahead of Persistent One (Tevin Foster) and Dodge This Link (Reyan Lewis) leaving the six-furlong (1,200m) point.

Thomas allowed Dodge This Link

to go by approaching the home bend with the latter looking all over the winner entering the lane. Bin Laden

continued to fight on the inside rails and eventually regained the lead in deep stretch and went on to win by four lengths.
