Granville, Anchovy rally to register wins U-13 football

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Holders Granville All-age and Anchovy Primary rebounded from opening game losses to score impressive wins over Lethe All-age and Buckingham Primary, respective­ly, as the St James Football Associatio­n Under-13 competitio­n continued at Corinaldi Avenue Primary on Friday.

Led by a hat-trick from Ameche Robinson, Granville All-age beat Lethe All-age 4-0 in their Zone A game while Anchovy Primary got by Buckingham Primary 3-1.

After their loss to Zone leaders Flankers Primary, Granville stormed back on Friday with Robinson scoring in the 24th, 32nd and 33rd minutes while Romari Reid got the other goal in the 26th minute.

The win saw Granville join Lethe All-age on three points, both trailing Flankers, on six points, in the points tables.

Anchovy Primary, who had lost their first game to Irwin Primary, scored all their goals on Friday in the first half with D’andre Lamey opening the scoring in the second minute, Raymond Plummer added a second in the ninth minute and Olando Fowler made it 3-0 in the 27th minute.

Dameon Hewitt scored the consolatio­n goal for Buckingham in the 42nd minute.

On Thursday, former winners Chetwood Primary and Catherine Hall both scored 3-0 wins over Pinnacle Academy and Dumfries Primary, respective­ly.

The win saw Chetwood Primary take over the lead in Zone B on six points while Catherine Hall Primary joins Corinaldi Avenue Primary on six points in Zone D.

Michael Fogah scored twice, once in either half for Chetwood who led 1-0 at half-time.

Fogah gave Chetwood an early lead, scoring in the second minute and Warren Young made it 2-0 early in the second half before Fogah completed his brace in the 42nd minute.

All three Catherine Hall goals came in the second half, as Jaheim Rose finally unlocked the Dumfries defence with a goal in the 34th minute, Mario

Simms added a second four minutes later, and Ronaldino Bryan added a third in the 49th minute — all scoring in backto-back games.
