Pamputtae’s charity gets boost

- BY JASON TULLOCH Observer writer

PAMPUTTAE received a donation of $10,000 for her single mothers’ foundation from Sheldon Plummer, managing director of

Smart Post limited, at the ‘Mom & Me expo’ held on the lawns of Devon house in St Andrew recently.

The two-day expo was held on May 7 and 8.

“Smart Post is a company that always wants to give back to a good cause. We recognise that Jamaica is a country that has a lot of single mothers in the household and if this donation can go a far way in assisting them, then we would want to be behind it. We strongly believe this is a good cause and we want to be able to support it,” Plummer told the Jamaica observer.

Pamputtae added an air of excitement to proceedings as many patrons were delighted to see the veteran deejay.

“I am always delighted to see my fans and receive such a warm welcome. I have been part of the expo since its inception in 2018 and I must say I’m really glad to be part of it. This is an event that helps a lot of single mothers and young entrepreneurs. If you miss the event, next time you better forward because ‘Mom and Me’ is the place to be,” she said.

Hosted by Plummer and Alicia Carpio-roxborough, CEO of Pop Up Events Ja, the occasion saw business owners islandwide, predominantly women, showcasing a wide variety of products, which included fine craft, flowers, car accessories, jewellery, skincare products, and clothing.

“I have been doing this event for four years and we decided that 2022 we going to make the event bigger and better. The core function of the Mom & Me Expo is to promote mothers that are local manufacturers and encouraging entrepreneurship because this is how we going to make the economy grow,” Carpio-roxborough said.

DJ Problem Child was definitely in the Mother’s Day mood as he kept the vibes going with classics such as

A Song for Mama by Boyz II Men, Celine Dion’s Too Love You More (Because

You Loved Me), and Sizzla’s Thank You Mama.

On Sunday, May 8, Azania Ross topped the karoke contest and won a gift basket.
