JC unfazed by St Catherine stalemate
Head coach of Jamaica college (Jc) davion Ferguson believes that a point against st catherine High in the 2022 inter-secondary schools sports association (issa)/ digicel manning cup competition should not hinder his team’s chances of going all the way.
Jamaica College, who were runners-up to Kingston College last year, played out a 0-0 draw against Walker Cup title holders St Catherine in Group B action at Prison Oval in Spanish Town on Friday.
Ferguson stated that his team is still in the building process, but once everything falls into place, Jamaica College will be a force to be reckoned with.
“We are pleased with the result,” he said.
“Last year at this stage of the season we had only one point, and so I think at this stage, having four points with 13 goals in the bag is a plus. In terms of the overall objectives, we are definitely still on course to top the group. That’s what we want to do. I don’t think that this game would change that objective.
“In terms of winning the competition, we are taking it one game at a time as it is still early. We have quality, it is just for us now to get it together, and once we get it together, I think the sky is the limit for these boys,”

Ferguson told the Observer.
It was expected to be both teams’ toughest game of the group stage, and so it proved as neither Jamaica College nor St Catherine were able to ignite any spark in the first half.
St Catherine looked the better outfit in terms of attacking as they had more shots at the target.
However, the visitors dictated proceedings in the second half.
Not only did they hold more possession of the ball, but they also made more attempts at goal, though they too were unable to find the back of the net.
Within the space of a minute in the second half, JC twice came close to breaking the deadlock, but they wasted the opportunities. Firstly, J’havier Lynch had his shot saved by the brilliant Omarion Brown in goal for St Catherine in the 52nd minute. Mere seconds later, Maquan Aldbridge had an empty goal to shoot at, but could only send his strike over the crossbar.
St Catherine also came close to tasting victory themselves, but numerous shots from close range failed to hit the net.
