Blaq Rushan expands into new areas
RECORD producer Blaq Rushan recently launched a new business venture called Gem Stone Consultants. He describes the company — based in Montego Bay, St James — as a one-stop shop for people in the music industry.
“Our aim is to help creatives and other persons involved in the entertainment industry to harness their true potential and achieve big goals. Therefore, we offer professional services that are badly needed in the music business, such as talent management, music publishing, and bookings. We also do event planning, music production, public relations, and marketing,” he said.
The St James-born producer — who is also involved in the construction industry — says he decided to create Gem Stone because he saw a need for this kind of company in western Jamaica.
“I started out as a party promoter while in high school. Since then I have also gotten involved in other areas of the business, including music production and artiste management. So I have a lot of experience in the business. As a result of that people are always asking me how to get things done in the music biz. So I figured I might as well get into the entertainment consultancy business,” said Blaq Rushan.
Although the company was launched just a month ago it has already begun to gain a foothold in western Jamaica.
“Things are looking very good. We’re getting a lot of requests from artistes to handle their bookings, promoters are also reaching out to us as well to help them organise their events. I am confident that Gem Stone has a bright future ahead.”
