Herbert Morrison make it sixthstrai­ght in girls’ basketball

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Herbert Morrison Technical made it sixthstrai­ght wins after they beat Irwin High 61-15 in their return-round ISSA Western Conference Girls Open basketball game played at Herbert Morrison on Thursday.

Mt Alvernia High won back-to-back games when they came from behind to beat Muschett High 31-22, while Holland High were 24-14 winners over winless William Knibb Memorial.

Herbert Morrison Technical lead with 12 points, followed by Mt Alvernia High on 10 points, Holland High is in third place on nine with Irwin High in fourth place with eight points.

Muschett High are fifth with six points with William Knibb on five points from five losses.

After winning the first game against Irwin 86-16, Herbert Morrison was led by a double-double from Dandreika Wittingham 22 points and 13 steals, while Taveena Clarke missed a double-double by one steal after scoring 20 points and had nine steals with Tahira Shaw scoring 10 points and getting seven rebounds.

Samar Poyser and Breana Hawthorne both scored four points for Irwin High.

Moya Ricketts scored 10 point to lead Mt Alvernia High to their second game in the week as they came from two points back after the first quarter 6-8, to lead 12-9 at half time and were up by five points 21-16 after the third quarter.

Rhianna Mclean scored 12 points to lead all scorers and had five steals and four rebounds for Muschett High while Shanna-kay Morris scored six points and had four rebounds.

Holland High were led to their fourth win by a game high 16 points from Jemelia Hines as Brianna Edwards held 17 rebounds while Dahsia Scarlett scored seven points for William Knibb Memorial.
