TUCKER, St James — Green Pond Primary and Flankers Primary are the first semi-finalists in the St James Football Association/victoria Mutual Foundation Uplift Under-13 competition, after wins over Howard Cooke Primary and John Rollins Success Primary, respectively, in their quarter-final games at Wespow Park on Tuesday.

Jamari Roache scored a brace in a four-minute span on either side of the half-time break to lead Green Pond to a 2-0 victory and Jouvaine Clarke also got two goals as Flankers held off John Rollins Success 3-1 in a game played in heavy rains.

It was the first losses for Howard Cooke and John Rollins Success this season as they had won their respective firstround zones but went down to lower-ranked teams that had finished second in their firstround groups.

The other two semi-finalists will be decided on Wednesday when Corinaldi Avenue Primary faces Catherine Hall in the first game set to start at 10:00 am followed by Montego Bay Prep against Barracks Road Primary.

On Tuesday, Roache scored his first goals of the season to lead Green Pond to the top four, scoring his first in the 29th minute, a minute before the interval, then added the second in the 33rd minute.

The second game started well over an hour late as the John Rollins Success team were late in arriving and with little time to warm up were behind after just six minutes when Everald Lindsay gave Flankers Primary the lead.

Clarke added a second in the 11th minute as Flankers led 2-0 at half-time but Kevin O’gilvie gave John Rollins Success some hope when he scored his ninth goal of the season in the 45th minute.

Clarke, however, completed his brace in the 52nd minute as Flankers held on for the win.
