MESSAGE FROM THE PRIME MINISTER

-

Leaders, One Child at a Time.”

For almost five (5) decades, they have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on our country and in the lives of our children and the most vulnerable in our society.

Throughout their distinguished history, the KCNSA has played an instrumental role in uplifting the children of our nation. Since its establishment 49 years ago, they have consistently demonstrated a deep sense of compassion and a steadfast dedication to improving the well-being of our youth. Their commitment to this noble cause has set a shining example for community organizations across the country.

During their years of service, they have executed several projects including the building of a Sluicing Station, Isolation Ward for children, Day Care Centre and Hostel for staff at the Bustamante Hospital for Children; the construction of the Mico Youth Counselling Centre; the canteen at the Shortwood Practicing Primary and Junior High School and a Rubella Unit at the Salvation Army School for the deaf.

The KCNSA is the largest Kiwanis Club in Jamaica and is the sponsor of Service Leadership Programmes (SLP) spanning 24 learning institutions. In fact, they offer mentorship, educational programmes, and various developmental initiatives that have played an integral role in unlocking the potential within each child.

I am pleased to note that some of the projects planned for this administrative year include; an Early Literacy Initiative and breakfast programme at St. Paul’s Basic School in Tower Hill and National Baptist Basic School in Arnette Gardens; the Roy Pennant KCNSA Meals on Wheels and Marie Atkins Shelter Feeding Programmes; The launch and handover of the Parenting Place at the National

Baptist Basic School by the Early Childhood Commission and the refurbishing of Mount James Basic School in West Rural St. Andrew.

It brings me great joy to highlight how the mission of the KCNSA aligns harmoniously with the goals of our Government regarding the welfare of our children and the most vulnerable. Our administration recognizes that our nation’s future rests upon the well-being and growth of our youth, and we firmly believe that every child deserves a fair chance at success and a nurturing environment that fosters their dreams.

To this end, I commend Derrick Brown and his team who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the children of Jamaica receive the support and care they deserve. By nurturing one child at a time, you are sowing the seeds of leadership and inspiring a generation that will shape the future of our nation.

So, as you celebrate this momentous occasion, may you take pride in your accomplishments and be filled with renewed energy to continue your noble work. It is my hope that you continue to inspire us all as we strive to build a brighter and more inclusive future for our children.
