MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
The Kiwanis Club of North St Andrew (KCNSA) is celebrating 49 years of service to our nation’s children. We hold true to our motto “Serving the Children of the World” and spare no effort, at every opportunity to nurture today’s children to become tomorrow’s leaders one child at a time.
Our “Young Children Priority One” (YCPO) is an ongoing community service program of Kiwanis International that addresses the needs of early childhood (pregnancy to age five). This project focusses on maternal and child health, child care and development, parent education and support and safety and pediatric trauma.
The KCNSA for this current year, continues to focus on Childcare and Development as well as parent education and support.
Our Early learning initiatives at St Paul’s Basic School in Tower Hill, and the National Baptist Basic School in Trench Town allow us to provide outreach to over 300 basic school children on a bimonthly basis. On each visit, club members participate in morning devotion, provide and serve a warm breakfast meal and then engage in reading and discussions with the students.
On our annual visit to the Women’s Centre on Trafalgar Road, we partner with the centre and the National Parenting Support Commission to engage the young mothers in discussions on parenting while providing tangible support to assist the mothers and their children.
It is an honour and a privilege to be leading this great club at this point in time. Our Club is one with a tradition of excellence, an enviable record of achievement and success, and a culture of fellowship, caring and performance even in the turbulent times that we witnessed over the past three years.
I’ll use this opportunity to pledge the unyielding efforts of the KCNSA to the nurturing, caring and protection of our nation’s future leaders. Our young children are indeed Priority One and we stand ready to provide support for their well-being and development and we encourage all parents and well thinking Jamaicans to do the same. They are our children and it is our duty to protect them.
