MESSAGE FROM THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR, DIVISION 23 CENTRAL
I am happy to join with the Kiwanis Club of North St. Andrew (KCNSA) in celebrating its 49th anniversary. Forty nine (49) years is not a milestone anniversary but in those nearly fifty years the KCNSA has transformed the lives of thousands of children, brought joy to the lives of thousands of senior citizens and fed thousands of indigent and homeless persons.
The KCNSA is to be congratulated for living the mission of Kiwanis which is to improve the world, one child and one community at a time. It is particularly noteworthy that the KCNSA sponsors 24 Service Leadership Clubs (SLP) – 5 CKI clubs, 9 Key Clubs and 10 Builder’s Clubs and in doing that the club epitomizes the Kiwanis Motto, “Serving the Children of the World”.
I would encourage the KCNSA not to rest on celebrated record of service but to innovate and seek new ways to be a positive influence in communities worldwide - so that one day, all children will wake up in communities that believe in them, nurture them and provide the support they need to thrive.
Since assuming the office of Lieutenant Governor, Division 23 Central, I have had to work closely with President Derrick as Class President. I have been impressed by his leadership, dedication and commitment to the values of Kiwanis and this has borne fruit in the club’s performance which has been impressive across the breath of Kiwanis activities such as fundraising, SLP, community service, PR and marketing as well as interclubs.
It would be remiss of me not to specially mention the Sensational Solar Raffle which seeks to fund the building of a hostel for the young men of Matthew 25:40, a charity. This is a massive undertaking which will cost millions of dollars and KCNSA is to be commended for its innovative raffle which offers all Kiwanis Clubs in Jamaica an opportunity to raise funds for their service projects by participating in the Sensational Solar Raffle.
I wish for KCNSA, its officers, directors and members, continued success and many more decades of service to the children of the world.
