Alucky bidder claimed a guitar signed by Michael Bolton for US$900 during a virtual auction on Sunday night.

The auction took place while hundreds gathered at Couples Sans Souci resort to see the Grammy Award-winning artiste render some of his most classic hits.

“Michael Bolton is showing commitment to the cause of the Issa Trust Foundation. He donated the signed guitar because he knows the proceeds from the sale of the guitar contribute to the building of the Mary Issa Health Centre for children,” marketing executive Sean “Contractor” Edwards told the Jamaica Observer.

At the end of the night, dubbed An Evening With Michael Bolton, over US$350,000 was raised to spearhead the construction of the health centre slated for Richmond in St Ann.

Edwards further stated that the auction, which also included art pieces and other gadgets, was mounted to also involve those who could not make the show.

“The auction was really good, because it gave people who could not attend the show an opportunity to contribute to the building and operation of the Mary Issa Health Centre,” he said.

The marketing executive was also pleased about the seamless execution of the concert.

“I am very pleased with the show because patrons were treated to their first-class, fivestar concert experience . This would have started from their transportation via police escort in shuttles from the designated parking lot. The seated patrons were all elegantly dressed. The delicious food and premium drinks flowed all night along with top quality performances, which saw the Prime Minister and his wife present from start to finish,” he said.

The Issa Trust Foundation was established in 2005 by Couples Resorts as a non-profit organisation. The mission of the foundation is to provide a system of prevention, health promotion and education, community health improvement, and other services to promote the well-being and development of the Jamaican people.
