Perfect Brew takes I’msatisfied Trophy in style
PERFECT Brew’s connections saw their patience and consistency pay off again on Saturday when the four-year-old bay gelding won the third running of the $1.4-million I’msatisfied Trophy feature with a scintillating gallop at Caymanas Park.
When anti-post favourite Is That A Fact was scratched half an hour before the race, the feature event lost some of its competitiveness. Perfect Brew, on the other hand, ensured there were still some thrills when he blasted through the pack and overhauled the leaders in deep stretch, much to the delight of the audience in attendance.
Perfect Brew won the Open Allowance race for three-year-olds and upward over six furlongs (1,200m) by four and a half lengths. The race finished in 1:12.1 (23.0 x 46.1).
With jockey Tevin Foster riding for Hall of Fame trainer Richard Azan,
Perfect Brew was the last of the seven runners to leave the starting gates at the break. Rojorn Di Pilot led the field ahead of Lure of Lucy (Jerome Innis),
I’ve Got Magic (Bebeto Harvey), and God of Love (Anthony Allen).
Jordon Reign’s (Dane Dawkins) surrounded horses and showed the way ahead of I’ve Got Magic, Rojorn Di Pilot, and the now-bubbling Perfect Brew, as the runners sorted themselves out approaching the half-mile (800m) bend. Turning for home, Jordon Reign’s and
I’ve Got Magic were locked in a stretchrun fight but Foster urged his mount for a push. Perfect Brew switched gears and shot away like a cannon ball on fire, winning handily ahead of I’ve Got Magic and Jordon Reign’s.
On the 10-race card champion trainer Jason Dacosta, and jockeys Phillip Parchment and champion Dane Dawkins each won two races.
Digital One (Dane Dawkins) won race seven, the Princess Popster Trophy; and
Phenomenal One (Phillip Parchment) won the Reggae Legend Trophy in the eighth for Dacosta.
Parchment had previously won the sixth event, the Reggae Skanking Trophy, with the Andrew Mcdonaldtrained War Horse.
In the 10th and final event, the Reggae Roots Rocking Trophy, Dawkins won his second race atop the Errol Burketrained Nakamura.
Racing continues today with an eightrace programme.
