Killer start to MVP Live series

Live performanc­es at PUSL8 each month end

POPULAR DANCEHALL artiste, Bounty Killer, commonly called ‘The Warlord’, will open PULS8’s MVPMonth End Live series tonight. MVP continues to pull hundreds of fans each Friday night and Bounty Killer’s performanc­e is expected to add a new dimension to the party.

This year, each MVP Friday will see a live performanc­e of a top-flight Jamaican entertaine­r. MVP has the added attraction of compliment­ary admission and Appleton drink specials.

Rodney Pryce, aka Bounty Killer, is the founder of the dancehall collective, Alliance. A man of many names, Killer is also known as the ‘Poor People’s Governor’, ‘Ghetto Gladiator’ and ‘Five Star General’.

After starting his career as a sound system deejay in his early teens, at 14 years old Pryce was hit by a stray bullet during a gunfight between rival political factions. While convalesci­ng in hospital, he decided on the name Bounty Killer.

After recovering, the new Bounty Killer increased his soundsyste­m performanc­es and turned his attention towards recording.

Bounty’s colourful career has had many highlights and has produced many hits. These include his famous collaborat­ion with No Doubt, Hey Baby, Living Dangerousl­y with Barrington Levy, and his fierce rivalries with popular DJs Beenie Man, Merciless and Vybz Kartel, as well as his numerous performanc­es at Sting.

INTERNATIO­NAL WORKS

During the 1990s Bounty became known in the USA and Europe, recording with Busta Rhymes, No Doubt, Masta Killa, The Fugees, Wyclef Jean, Mobb Deep, Capone-NNoreaga, Swizz Beatz and AZ. His 1996 album My Xperience was very successful while Ghetto Dictionary Volume II: Mystery, received a Grammy nomination.

Bounty has been credited with having inspired and mentored many artists such as Vybz Kartel, Mavado and Elephant Man.
