Raising funds for cancer care
WESTERN BUREAU: THE ELEGANT Shoppes at Rose Hall provided the perfect venue for the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Fashion, Food, Auction and Dance fundraiser on Saturday.
Patrons feasted on a sumptuous fare provided by Half Moon, Round Hill, Sandals Royal Caribbean, Sunset Beach Resort, Sky Beach Bar and Seafood Grill, and the Culinary Federation of Jamaica, and sipped alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages provided by Red Stripe and CPJ.
The fashion show, which was hosted by Brian Brown, featured designs by Ann-Marie Cadogan and Earl’s Fashion, with members of the business community rubbing shoulders on the catwalk with models from the Montego Bay-based Showjam Modeling Agency.
IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCES
The fashion show was complemented by impressive vocal performances from Miguel Antonio, who will grace the small stage at the Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium, and Alecia Flemming Shaw.
Magician Dawyne Turner had the audience spellbound as he pulled a rabbit from a hat, converted tissue to money, and brought a dove to life from a picture, among many other fascinating feats.
The Fashion, Food, Auction and Dance was staged to raise funds to maintain the LINAC machine at the Cornwall Regional Hospital, for which the Chamber of Commerce had joined forces with the Jamaica Association of Administrative Professionals to garner the requisite funds to purchase the equipment to treat cancer patients.
