Start with Boy Wonder

-

THE UNBEATEN BOY WONDER should kick off his threeyear-old campaign on a winning note when he takes on seven opponents in the opening round five race at Caymanas Park tomorrow.

This is race number one in the first Super-6, which concludes in the sixth, while the late Super-6 will embrace races five to 10 and the Pick- 9 ( starts anew) from race two to 10.

Trained by Ian Parsard, BOY WONDER stamped himself as a smart two- year- old colt when slamming rivals by 14 lengths on his debut over 1200 metres on September 23 last year.

Although having gone lame and was a late scratch for race one in the Supreme Ventures 2- Y- O Series ( Cash Pot Trophy) over 1200 metres on October 19, avoiding a clash with the brilliant filly PRINCESS POPSTAR, BOY WONDER has been put down and reprogrammed for this race.

Next on the programme is a three- year- old maiden special over 1100 metres to be contested by eight starters, four of whom will be racing for the first time.

They include SENORITA (Walker up) from the stables of Gary Subratie and STREET DANCER (Dick Cardenas up), who hails from the barn of champion trainer Wayne DaCosta. SENORITA has looked the more forward in condition and thus gets the vote.

UNCLE TAF, who won the Lotto classic (Governor’s Cup) last year and was second to PERFECT NEIGHBOUR in the derby, has been extensively prepared for the third race over 1100 metres and should return on a winning note, despite a sixmonth absence.

The Subratie-trained MISTY, who had no luck in running behind THUNDER HEART over 1200 metres on January 18, should rebound with a win on the fourth race over the straight for four-year-olds and up (fillies and mares).

Eleven will face the starter, but it should be noted that Subratie has opted for the champion jockey (Dane Nelson) and coming back well drawn in midtrack, she gets the nod over FAIT ACCOMPLI ( Cardenas up) and SHADE OF BEAUTY.

The fifth race for the Alty Armond Memorial Cup (claiming $ 350,000-$ 300,000) over 2000 metres should be won by consistent SAINT MARY (Trevor Simpson up), who beat all barring the out- of- class STOP A GAP in a fast- run 1500-metre race on January 4.

Then, close all bets with down in class EUSEBIA, who beat a much stronger field of horses over the straight on November 23 in non-winners of three.

Trained by Nicholas Edwards, EUSEBIA (Nelson up) now runs on a lowly $ 180,000 tag and should win from SOCIAL BUTTERFLY and NEVER GIVE UP.
