The Secret way forward
Secrets Resorts and Spa in Montego Bay, St James, is looking forward to being the best hotel in Jamaica, the Caribbean and the world.
FORTY EMPLOYEES of the Secrets Resorts and Spas in Montego Bay walked away proudly with cash and valuable prizes at the first employee and leader annual and quarterly awards ceremony on last Tuesday.
General manager Emilio Huhn’s belief is rooted in the notion that it is imperative that corporate entities should invest wholeheartedly in the most important asset of any business – the human capital and their development – and the profits will be realised.
“We have a staff awards ceremony every four months and we feel it is important to recognise the best employees, supervisors and managers every so often. We don’t want to lose track by rewarding our valued employees once a year,” Huhn said. With more frequency, workers become even more motivated.
INCENTIVES
With reference to a car given to an employee last December and with a 2014 Suzuki Celerio up for grabs this December, Huhn said this decision has seen staff already competing feverishly to outdo each other in the execution of their duties, while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
“I think it is a fair and healthy competition they have embarked on,” he said, while praising the staff for helping the company to realise growth in its four- year existence.
“Everybody will benefit in the end. I think we have done well in the past four years, and we are looking forward to being the best hotel in Jamaica, the Caribbean and who knows – the world,” said Huhn.
Andrea Allie- Thorpe is the human resources director, who can best be described as the cor- nerstone of the Spanish-owned twin resorts and one who extends herself beyond the norm to ensure that the 980 staff contingent remains motivated, irrespective of any unforeseen circumstances.
Allie- Thorpe explains: “We believe that the employees are the heartbeat of the organisation. Our employees know they are very valuable to us and we reward them for hard work and dedication to the job,” she emphasised.
