- Krysta Anderson Gleaner Writer krysta.anderson@gleanerjm.com

VALENTINE’S DAY, though a romantic affair, can be a costly one. If you are down and out financially, well, here are five ways to please your partner this Valentine’s Day, without digging too deep into your pockets.

ROMANTIC MOVIES

As corny or clichéd as this may sound, the movies is an ideal place to steam things up snuggling and getting comfy. You can actually watch a movie at home, and take a break to make your own intimate and private intermission. Carib 5 will also be having a two-for- one this Valentine’s Day, with movies such as

Endless Love and About Last Night making a lovely debut.

GROUP DATE

If you cannot afford things on your own, suggest a group date to your friends. This can be done at a house of one of the couples, where ladies and men can split the responsibilities and activities. You can also play group games, and go off to their respective houses to take the party to a whole new level.

HOME DAY SPA

This is easier than it sounds. You can pamper your partner with a soothing massage with massage oils, or provide a pedicure, manicure and facial with products from the home. The right rubs and touch in the right spot can turn an event of rest and relaxation to peaking heights.

STROLL ON THE BEACH

The beach is the perfect place to watch the sunset within the arms of your loved one. Timing is key, so ensure proper plans to get everything right. You can up the ante with cuddling under the stars to the sound of the waves with cool sea air kissing your skin at night. Of course, there is no harm in getting wet.

PICNIC FOR TWO

Pack a basket with some of your favourite foods and a blanket ... . A picnic is perfect for conducting scintillating conversation in comfort. This can be done either indoors or outdoors.
