Victim identified in fatal Coaster bus hit-and-run

-

THE POLICE yesterday identified the sole person killed in Saturday’s hit-and-run in the busy downtown Kingston market district.

She is 32-year-old Patrice Nelson of a Kingston 19 address.

Nelson was one of four women mowed down by a Toyota Coaster bus on Pechon Street about 2 p.m.

She succumbed to her injuries in hospital later Saturday. Up to yesterday, the other three women were still being treated in hospital.

Yesterday afternoon, the police said a hunt was still on for the driver of the Coaster bus, who fled the scene after the incident, and that anyone with information should contact the Darling Street police at 948-6773, police 119 emergency number, or the nearest police station.

The Road Safety Unit in the Ministry of Transport reported that up to Friday, road fatalities had increased by eight per cent when compared to the same period last year, with 211 people killed since January.
