Summer hats

- Samantha Minott YOUTHLINK WRITER

WITH HATS being an amazing accessory to have, it is important to know which style fits the shape of your face best. In this summer hat guide, Youthlink will help you find your go-to summer hats that will help you beat the heat and the sun.

Heart shape

For a person with a heartshaped face any hat with a medium sized brim will be perfect. This is best because it helps to balance out the narrowness of the chin and the wideness of the forehead. Therefore floppy hats, boater hats and beanies are great. However, try and avoid wide brim fedoras.

Square

With a wide jaw and forehead, it is important to get hats that even out your face. Choosing hat styles that are typically round will help you create a contrast, therefore giving you a softer look as a result. So try hats like fedoras, bowler hats and beanies.

Colour tips

To add dimension to your look, it is best to create contrasts, therefore, it is important that you choose your hat colours wisely. If you have dark hair colour, then choose a light-colour hat, such as tan or even white. If, however, you have light-colour hair, choose hats that are generally darker.

Round

Round shape faces are, of course, the opposite of square-shaped faces. This means that it is better to get hats that have sharper looks to them and hats that do not hide the forehead. When the forehead is hidden, it can make the face look rounder. Flat caps, newsboy and baseball caps will do the trick, but definitely do not wear hats such as Cossacks.

Oval

People that have oval-shaped faces are extremely lucky when it comes to wearing hats because they can pull off nearly every style. So it really depends on which style you choose.
