Your thoughts

NAOMI MILLER, 18 (NM)

YL: To which other Jamaican artiste would you compare Denyque?

NM: Denyque’s songs are more like pop than dancehall or reggae. There isn’t really anyone doing much of the former in the country right now (to my knowledge), so I wouldn’t compare her to any other artiste. She pretty much has a wide area for herself because of her music style.

YL: Is that an advantage or a disadvantage?

NM: It could be seen as an advantage since she has all this space to shine. Then again, there’s no real competition [seeing that] she’s not up against anyone who sings similarly.

RHONA DAWKINS, 17 (RD)

YL: One line says, “Party’s kinda dead, so you know we’re gonna change that.” If this song started playing at a club or any other party scene, do you think it would hype it up, or would the place remain as it was?

RD: I think it would hype it up. This song is a party song, after all. Persons wouldn’t be dancing wild or anything, but they’d still be enjoying the night.

YL: Give one thing that you like or dislike about this song.

RD: I like the upbeat rhythm that it has, but I’m not really liking the whole repetitive vibe that’s going on.
