Summer dresses

- Samantha Minott • YOUTHLINK WRITER

WITH SO many different body shapes, not all dress designs will look good on everyone. Once you are able to find the perfect one for you, though, it will look fantastic. Here are some summer-dress styles to fit different body shapes.

Straight

A straight body shape normally means your bust and hips have the same width while your waist is on the slender side. The best dresses for this body type are a semi-fit, an empire waist, a one-shoulder and even a shift-style dress. These styles will help when it comes to adding dimension to your body shape.

Pear shape

A-line, strapless, and empire- waist dresses are normally the perfect choice when it comes to having a pear-shaped body. This means that your hips are wider than your bust and waist, therefore, your goal is to bring attention to your top half so that your body looks more proportional and balanced.

Triangle shape

Once your bottom half is smaller than your top half, then there is also very little definition between your waist and hips. It’s left up to your clothes, then, to balance out your look. The best dresses to wear are ones with wide straps, such as halters or A-line dresses.

Hourglass shape

If you have an hourglass body shape, it means that your waist is narrower than your bust and hips. For you, the wrap, sheath or any similar style dress that hugs the waist is ideal as it will extenuate the waist while balancing the lower and upper parts of the body. However, do not go overboard with crazy patterns as they will hide your figure.
