Nobody but Bobby!
THE OVERWHELMING sentiment expressed by supporters of the People’s National Party (PNP) in North West St Catherine is that their lives have changed for the better under the leadership of Robert Pickersgill, who was nominated yesterday to represent them for a seventh consecutive term.
“I will always support Bobby because he has done a lot to improve the lifestyle of everyone in North West St Catherine. He not only looks out for his supporters, but everybody,” stated Desmond Smith, who has been voting for the PNP in the constituency since 1972.
“I have seen where, apart from the many developments that our MP has done in this area since he took over in 1989, he has always ensured that unfortunate children can get to school by providing for them,” Smith told The Gleaner.
Smith said he has no doubt that Pickersgill will be returned as the member of parliament because he has performed and he is loved by the people of North West St Catherine.
“Denise Thompson, another supporter, said she has been supporting Bobby Pickersgill since he began his tenure in the constituency. She said it is not about personal benefit for her and her family, but about performance.
“Mr Pickersgill has done a lot to improve vital services such as providing houses, helping people who cannot afford to bury their dead, and helping the children to go back to school, and lots more,” she revealed.
Meanwhile, the incumbent said he has always felt the love of the people, and this is why he is motivated to work for them.
“Yes, I am running on performance, but I would not be running if I did not believe in improving people’s lives,” said Pickersgill. “The people of North West have given me their support because I work for them and will continue to do so.”
Pickersgill said he is confident the people will give him an early birthday gift come election day. He will celebrate his birthday on March 26.
