BALANCING CAREER AND FITNESS

- Compiled by Shanna Kaye Monteith and Carl Gilchrist.

SIR MIX-A-LOT sang, “I like big butts and I cannot lie.”

With the increased popularity of cosmetic surgery, it seems he’s not alone. A well-pronounced derriere, once reserved only for winners of an exclusive genetic lottery, has been liberated and is now available to anyone willing to pay for it or go under the knife. But are most people happy about this? Flair posed the question to both men and women to find out their thoughts on this blossoming trend.

So we asked women: Would you do a butt or breast implant to enhance your relationship or value? Here are their responses:

“No, because I am comfortable in my skin and love how I look, and whoever wants me should accept me the way I am.” – Monique Llewellyn

“No, I wouldn’t get implants, but if I had the option I would reduce my breast size, but I wouldn’t put anything in. I don’t think that improves anything, you’re just making yourself plastic.” – Yolande Richards

“No, because I don’t think it would improve my relationship or value. I think most men like their women natural, they talk mostly about hair. And to what I’m seeing, breast and butt implants can be very dangerous.” – Shaneil Nepair

“Absolutely not! Anyone who doesn’t accept my body as is can gwaan! I’d rather exercise and get that desired butt, and even then, if I don’t achieve it, then so be it. The most important thing is feeling sexy in my own skin.”

– Anika Lake

“Implant where? My value is already enhanced by my confidence, and if anyone in this world can’t live with my God-made features, then to hell with them. No artificial butt or breasts around here! I am quite fine just as God made me.”

– Monique Mitchell

“No. To be honest, I don’t see how implants help relationships or value. If I have to live my life to please a man or to please people, I would rather be alone.

“I believe that a man should love a woman, and vice versa, for who they are. I’m not saying a little change won’t help relationships, but if you have to change yourself – I mean your entire body to please someone, that means you’re not being you. You’re turning into another person to please someone that maybe won’t be in your life forever. God made us a certain way, let’s not change it. If he wanted us to have big breasts and butt, he would have given them to us. Let’s not make social media control our lives.”

– Shanice Scott

Many may think that women do these enhancements for the benefit of the opposite sex. So we asked the men a two-part question: How would you feel if you found out the woman you were interested in had implants, and how important are large breasts and butt to you on a member of the opposite sex?

“Disheartened, to say the least. I’m kind of old-fashioned – no false nails, weave, make-up, etc. I interpret it as a lack of self-esteem and appreciation. They are not important.” – Odaine Mills

“Honestly, I don’t know. Maybe I would still try my luck with her. But for me, it’s not all about big butt and breasts. It’s about personality. Those types of things don’t really matter to me.” – Desmond Thomas

“Well, I would feel upset knowing that the woman I admired has fake breasts and/or bottom because my hopes of having a sexy woman would just shatter. I would start looking elsewhere as soon as I am aware that she is fake.

“To be honest, big breasts and big bottoms are not really that important to me. What is important is ambition and education. As long as she has that, then we are good. I’m not saying appearance isn’t important, too, but I give priority to education and ambition.” – Oshane Reeves
