of labour and employment, announces that Jamaica will host a seminar on vocational training in Englishspeaking Caribbean countries and the 10th technical meeting of the Inter-American Vocational Training Research and Documentation Centre at the Courtleigh Manor Hotel from August 14 through August 18, 1972. The objective of the seminar is to examine vocational training plans and programmes in the English-speaking countries of the Caribbean area and establish their degree of development. 1973:signed An agreement is

Ministry of Youth and Community Development Seymour Mullings heads a seven-man committee which will make recommendations to the Government on what steps should be taken to honour Jamaica’s Olympic gold medallist Donald Quarrie. Quarrie won the 200 metres and was second in the 100 metres at the Olympics held in Montreal, Canada. 1977:The
All-Island Spelling Champion for 1976 is 11-year-old Daille Nation, a student of Vaz Prep, who takes the title at the Spelling Bee countdown at the Sheraton Kingston Hotel. St Catherine Prep takes second place with their champion Sophia Buckeridge, 11. Third place goes to the St Ann champion Donna Young, a student of Alexandria Secondary School.
