What do you need for school?
Schools require the following documents for new students:
A completed registration form which is available at the school. I Passport photograph(s). I Birth certificate. I An up-to-date immunisation card (for basic and primary schools).
Bank voucher verifying payments of fees, where applicable.
Last school report, if the child is transferring from another school.
IIIIn addition make sure that you:
Know the rules of your child’s school.
Know your child’s peer group and teacher.
Make the necessary arrangements to pay all school fees if you have not yet done so.
Ensure that your child has the books and stationery necessary for starting school.
Participate in your child’s school’s back-to-school programme. Join the PTA. Speak to the principal, teacher,
IIIIIIguidance counsellor or an officer in the ministry’s regional office if you need clarification on any matter.
STUDENTS
Ensure that you: I Have your uniform. I Have your books and stationery. I Know the rules of your school. I Know the bus system in your area. I Know the emergency numbers of your parents and guardians.
COMMUNITY AND PTA
Ensure that you: Encourage parents to register their children in schools.
Protect the schools in your community from vandals and criminals.
Encourage the schools’ administrations to prepare facilities for the new school year.
Offer your assistance to schools to ensure that they are fully prepared for the new school year.
Encourage parents to participate in the running of the school by joining the PTA.
