Spain celebrates with f lamenco
THE VALENCIA Suite at the Spanish Court Hotel, will come alive on Friday, November 4 at 7:30 p.m., with the sounds and rhythms of a flamenco showcase featuring Las Migas, a Spanish female quartet.
The event is being organised by the Embassy of Spain as part of the celebratory activities commemorating 50 years of diplomatic relations between Spain and Jamaica, while also observing 10 years since the establishment of The SpanishJamaican Foundation.
As Carmen Rives RuizTapiador, chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Spain explains, “Culture is a strong bond between Jamaica and Spain and we consistently try to bring elements of both countries’ culture together to unite the people and to help in understanding each other.”
MUSICAL BLEND
The four women of Las Migas – Marta Robles and Alicia Grillo (guitarists), Alba Carmona (vocalist/dancer), Roser Loscos (violinist/vocalist) – are set to captivate the Jamaican audience with their unique blend of flamenco and Mediterranean styles, comprising classic and contemporary rhythms, and melodies that range from powerful to passionate to playful.
A second performance will be held at the Montego Bay Cultural Centre in Montego Bay on Saturday, November 5 at 7:30 p.m.
