For over seven decades, STATIN has been collecting, analysing and publishing data on the social, economic, demographic, environmental, industrial and general activities of Jamaica. This has been possible because of the support received from Jamaicans, and we would like to express our gratitude to all such respondents. Your cooperation has helped us to achieve our goal of providing relevant, reliable and accurate statistics. We solicit your support in continuing to provide statistics for the nation.

In recent times, the demand for timely statistics from businesses, researchers and government agencies and the public has increased and is expected to continue to increase in the coming years. We at STATIN want to fulfil those needs but we are faced with some challenges. In order to assist us in providing more statistics that are accurate, reliable and relevant, we appeal to residents and businesses to cooperate with interviewers/data collectors by: Allowing Interviewers/Data Collectors access to your premises, gated communities and apartments

yourself available when they visit your homes or place of business or schedule a time that is convenient to you to complete the interview

survey questionnaires that have been left at your business places by STATIN’s interviewers and contact us or the interviewer who left the questionnaire so that it may be collected. We need your support and so we appeal to you to partner with us.

IWHY PARTNER WITH US?

IAccurate data directly impacts how much funding is allocated to our communities, public works projects, schools, health services and more. Government needs information in order to assess the success of its economic and social policies and to make changes where necessary.

IInformation on which sectors can drive the growth of a country or which sectors might need support is critical for economic development. Providing accurate data is also an essential tool for business owners who use the demographic and economic data gathered to make strategic and fiscally sound decisions that can spur and sustain economic development and growth, such as selecting the location of retail stores or facilities, making informed marketing decisions, and understanding customer demographics.

Personal information provided will be kept in strict confidence. All members of staff at the Institute have signed confidentiality agreements for which breaches are punishable by law. In the 70 years of providing statistics to the nation, STATIN has never had a breach in its data collection policy, and we are committed to maintaining this exemplary standard.

Interviewers/data collectors are trained, knowledgeable members of staff who can be trusted with the information. They are easily identified by their STATIN, branded identification cards which can be easily authenticated by calling 630-1607.

IIWe urge you to partner with us as we continue to fulfil our mandate of collecting, analysing and publishing accurate, reliable and relevant information on Jamaica. This will assist Jamaica and Jamaicans in making informed decisions about their lives, businesses and helping to guide policymaking.
