From Rastafarianism to Christianinty:

The Tahnida Nunes story

- Familyandreligion@gleanerjm.com

TAHNIDA NUNES grew up in a Rastafarian home and she loved the faith. However, as she grew older, she realised there was no power or miracles there. She eventually found out that power she sought was that of the Holy Spirit.

A series of unfortunate events in 2007 caused her to feel like the ultimate failure.

“I felt the only solution was to take my life and end it all. I was so low, I thought either I’m going to die or a breakthrough is going to come,” Nunes said, adding that she felt compelled to search for something greater.

Nunes explained to Family and Religion how she went on a quest to find answers for her many questions.

“I told my mom how I felt and she told me to return to my Rastafarian roots, which I did, and I searched all the speeches of His Imperial Majesty (HIS) that I could find on YouTube. Then in one of his speeches it hit me! HIM was a follower of Christ and the head of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church (a Christian Church). I thought to myself, well there’s my answer. If who I have been looking to all my life for answers is looking to Christ, then Christ must be the answer.” Little did she know this epiphany was about to change her entire life.

Since Nunes embraced Christ, she has realised that Christendom comes in stages. As a young Christian, she struggled with issues such as smoking, drinking, sex and just an ungodly lifestyle overall.

“At first, I was hard on myself, but then I realised this was a never-ending process. Soon after receiving the Holy Spirit, these common challenges became minor. The bigger challenges now are loving the unlovable, genuinely loving my enemies, blessing those

who curse me, and keeping my heart clean and forgiving people who never said I’m sorry,” she said.

Nunes said the best part about her journey is knowing she’s not alone.

“I have a supernatural hope, and nothing or no one can take it from me. He directs me clearly and helps me to avoid bad decisions and destruction,” she stated boldly.

GLOBAL EVANGELIST

Since getting saved, Nunes has dedicated her life to leading young people to Christ. She is a global evangelist and an official member of the Christine Haber International Ministries. It is a global evangelistic outreach ministry birthed out of Jamaica headed by Bishop Christine Haber.

“We travel the world for Jesus. The farthest and most phenomenal place we’ve been is Israel, and that changed my life forever. To go to Israel and see the Bible come to life is just beyond words,” she shared.

“Today, I’m talking to you, you’ve tried everything else now try Jesus. We all need a personal Saviour. It profits you nothing to gain the whole world and lose your soul. Jesus loves you and He cares about you. Have faith and believe that God has a great plan for your life, ask Him to come into your heart and reveal your purpose to you.”

If you’re not a Christian today and you want to receive this beautiful gift of salvation, you can pray these simple words and Jesus will come into your heart and start transforming your life.

“Dear Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for me. Today I ask you to forgive me of all my sins and come into to my heart and take control of my life. Your Word says what does it profit me to gain the whole world and lose my soul. I don’t want to lose my soul. I don’t want to go to hell. I want to go to Heaven. So please, Lord hear my cry, and write my name in Your Lamb’s Book of Life.”

I felt the only solution was to take my life and end it all. I was so low, I thought either I’m going to die or a breakthrough is going to come
