Unforgettable 13th Caribbean Hall Of Fame Awards
THIS YEAR’S music industry inductees were Donovan Germain, Robert Livingston, Gussie Clarke, Tony Gregory, Junior Reid, and IOctane.
The visual and performing arts inductees were Barrington Watson; Webster Campbell; Winston Ewart; Volier Johnson; and for the culture inductees, The Most Hon Edward Seaga, Gina Hargitay, Gaverly McGowan, and Arnold Bertram.
This prestigious red-carpet event was a memorable one, with a team of ushers who are students of the Caribbean Maritime Institute, clad in white sailor suits, escorting the inductees, guests and performers to their seats on and off the stage.
The evening’s entertainment line-up was magnificent, with backing band Tower; the performance of African dances from the City Dancers; gospel artistes Kevin Downswell and Karen ‘Sista Sasha’ Chin; Jamaica’s First Lady of Jazz – Myrna Hague; Tony Gregory – former member of Byron Lee and the Dragonaires, who was an inductee; reggae/dancehall artistes Half Pint, Bugle, Gem Myers; french dancehall artiste Charly B; Canadian pop artiste Delon OM, featuring Canadian dancehall artiste Trinity Chris.
The attendees included a mixture of top government officials, diplomats, sports icons, music industry key players, and more.
The Caribbean Hall Of Fame was founded in 1989 by Garnet Reid, a Jamaican who saw the need to highlight and recognise Caribbean natives who are talented and who have excelled in their field, which supports the development of the region.
“Come 2017, the Caribbean Hall of Fame will be bigger and better,” said Reid.
