‘Admiral’ off to losing start
AN INSPIRED performance from Jermaine ‘Teddy’ Johnson, who had a brilliant solo goal and an assist, carried Tivoli Gardens to a come-frombehind 3-2 win over arch-rivals Arnett Gardens in yesterday’s Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) match at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex.
GLENDON ‘ADMIRAL’ Bailey’s first game in charge of Waterhouse ended in defeat for the team sitting in 11th spot in the 12-team league.
In a clash of cellar dwellers, Boys’ Town edged Waterhouse 2-1 in their Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) match yesterday at the Drewsland Stadium.
Boys’ Town’s goals came courtesy of strikes by Trevin Garnett in the 14th minute and Andrew ‘Alvez’ Allen (75th). Andrew McFarlane had earlier levelled the scores for the home side in the 36th minute.
Both teams ended the game with 10 players. Veteran players Irvino English of Waterhouse and Boys’ Town’s Wayne Ellis were shown red cards in the 54th minute for foul and abusive language.

Town, who came into the round on seven points, proved that they wanted the win more than their opponents. Boys’ Town stayed in last position but improved to 10 points in the 12-team league. Waterhouse remained on 11 points in 11th position.
‘Admiral’ Bailey, who saved Tivoli Gardens from relegation last season and moved to Waterhouse following Marvin Tate’s dismissal because of poor results, says that the team will get better during the season.
“We have a good crop of players. However, my biggest challenge is to get the players to play better on the defensive end. It will get better, as it is a work in progress,” Bailey told The Gleaner.
Coach of Boys’ Town, Andrew Price, was naturally happy for the win, which is the team’s third in 14 games.
“This should be a good tonic for the team. We played against a good team with quality players. It was a physical contest with two players ejected from the game,” Price reasoned.
“Coming into the game, I told the players that they will have to find a way to win,” he concluded.
