Montague must go!
PNP young professionals call for resignation of security minister
IT IS the People’s National Party Patriots’ view that National Security Minister Robert Montague is an “existential threat to national security” and they are demanding that he go. They are accusing him of battering, mismanaging, and demoralising the ministry since his tenure began just under a year ago.
Javette Nixon, chairman of the young professionals group, said in a release yesterday that Montague is presiding over increasing levels of insecurity and fear of everyday Jamaicans. GROWING FEARS
“There have been growing fears over the past six months. Jamaicans are crying out for Montague’s sacking in order to stem the unprecedented permeation of mayhem and anarchy across the Jamaican society,” stated Nixon.
The statement further said that January 2017 being the bloodiest start to a New Year is evidence of a rudderless and failing security climate, where growing numbers of vulnerable people fall victims to vicious criminals.
“The minister charged with generally directing and controlling this ministry should be made to admit that the situation is simply out of control and resign before our country further loses the basic ability to maintain law and order,” continued Nixon.
The National Council of the Patriots has invited parliamentarians Julian Robinson and Dr Peter Phillips to a private meeting on February 4, where they will discuss crime-fighting proposals as well as the urgent need to insist that another minister be tasked with protecting the lives and livelihood of the Jamaican people.
