‘I found a new life!’

-

WHEN SCANDALS break out and the church is ill-spoken of, when misunderstanding with another member of the Church cause me to be discouraged, or when I simply do not have the ‘vibes’ to go to Church, but look for excuses for not having to go to Church, I recall what God has done for me. I find my strength in the God who has shaped me to be the person He wants me to be.

Although baptised in the Catholic Church as an infant, I spent my childhood in other churches. Led by the Spirit, I returned to the Catholic faith at 15. What an experience of new life God gave me since then! He led me to delve deeply in the rich spirituality and tradition of our faith. I came to the Church not knowing fully the teachings of the Church but, because of the love of God and the Church, I made myself active. I utilised every opportunity to study at St Michael’s Theological College. Empowered with the knowledge, I worked in my parish and surrounding communities, teaching the Catholic faith to both youth and adults.

The Catholic Church has transformed my outlook on life, teaching me the gift of giving. By doing the work of Christ, I am truly blessed to see the transformation through spiritual growth in my life and in the lives of those I meet daily. Truly, I have found a new life in Christ, and in my spiritual mother, the Catholic Church! LUCINDA WELLINGTON Member of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11
