Ocho Rios Jazz Fest to feature NYC’s Project Grand Slam

PROJECT GRAND Slam, the celebrated jazz rock fusion band, led by acclaimed bassist/composer Robert Miller, will be featured performers at four music festivals in 2017. On June 4, 2017, the band will appear at the Jamaica Ocho Rios International Jazz Festival and on June 25 at the St Kitts Music Festival.

Stateside festivals include the Highland Lakes Concert Series in New Jersey on June 23 and Magic City Smooth Jazz’s Jazz In The Park Festival on October 1 in Alabama.

This is the 27th year of the Jamaica Ocho Rios International Jazz Festival, which takes place in Kingston and attracts a large international crowd and an allstar line-up, and the 21st annual St Kitts Music Festival, which expands to four days this year. In both, Project Grand Slam, will headline the closing day concert. Magic City, enters its ninth year of the Jazz In The Park festival, which has sponsored over 50 concerts and also attracts an all-star line-up.

“We’re delighted to be performing at these wonderful festivals this year,” says Miller, adding: “These festivals represent a natural evolution of the band as we play bigger and better venues and events in the US, as well as international locations.”

Project Grand Slam, is known for their dynamic live shows and signature fusion of Jazz, Funk, Latin and reimagined Classic Rock covers. Their shows are tailor made for the festival stage as witnessed by the band’s celebrated major venue performances in support of Mindi Abair, Boney James (2x), YES and Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots).

As a huge fan of classic rock, Miller likes to do reimagined covers of some of the genre’s best-known songs but with the twist of using a female vocalist. This includes the band’s unique covers of Fire, by Jimi Hendrix, You Really Got Me, by The Kinks, and their new covers of I’m So Glad, by Cream and Free, by Phish.
