Jamalco on the hunt in SVL County Championships

-

JAMALCO ARE aiming to win again when they face off against Rivoli in the Supreme Ventures Middlesex Major League County Championship netball match at Mineral Heights, Clarendon, this afternoon, beginning at 5 p.m.

The Clarendon team opened with a 56-36 victory over Manchester’s Titans last weekend and the team’s manager, Wayne Shaw, says they are looking to continue their winning ways when they meet their familiar St Catherine rivals later.

“We’ve played Rivoli so we know something about them,” Shaw offered. “They haven’t defeated us in the three times that we’ve met, so I expect that we’ll get the better of them tomorrow.

“Our aim is to top the zone and when we reach the quarter-finals we take it from there,” added Shaw.

Former national captain and shooter, Elaine Davis, will lead Jamalco’s charge, along with defenders Althea Byfield and Kerry-Ann Brown, plus centre Samantha Mundle.

The match is one of several County Championship league encounters – with matches being played simultaneously – and falls under a new format being utilised by Netball Jamaica, the sport’s local governing body, in its effort to foster general improvements with high level netball spread on a national basis.
