Beenie Man for Satdeh Night Live

... Hosted by the original Dancehall Queen Carlene

-

THEY WERE the power couple of dancehall in the ’90s, now courtesy of Satdeh Night Live, Carlene, the original Dancehall Queen, and Beenie Man will share centre stage once more, on Saturday, June 24, at House of Dancehall, Cargil Avenue.

On this special occasion when the original Dancehall Queen is set to grace a stage in Kingston to host an event, the entity that hosted Frankie Paul’s last performance, Merciless’ surprise defeat of Ninja Man, among other major shows, now brings Satdeh Night Live, a celebration of real, raw, uncut dancehall, starting appropriately with a live performance from ‘The Doctor’ Beenie Man.

The House of Dancehall must be a mandatory stop for dancehall lovers, as it offers an atmosphere of dancehall in its realest form; not a stadium, nightclub or hotel converted into a dancehall venue – but an authentic dancehall stop, with servers wearing ‘riders’, zinc fences installed on the walls, dubplates blended in the bar top, a pair of Vybz Kartel Clarks, and an original studio door on display.

Instead of unknown acts ‘killing time’ before Beenie takes over the stage, House of Dancehall promises entertainment for every taste. From their very own all-girl dance group, the Dancehall Rebels, gone wild in the front bar, to a throwback ’90s segment on stage and many prizes and surprises, including the females being able to win free membership to House of Dancehall’s Dance Fitness Party, where you learn the latest dance moves while getting into shape or learning to stretch on their portable dancehall poles. It is after being treated to all the aforementioned, that patrons will get a 100 per cent up-close and personal performance from Beenie Man. Every detail is covered: the pan chicken is in house, the soup and jelly coconut are ever present in the lawn, along with several well-lit bathrooms with running water located across the secure venue.
