‘We have got our man’

Police confident that they have nabbed 3D’s killer

-

DETECTIVES AT the Constant Spring Police Station are expressing confidence that they have nabbed the main suspect in the killing of 34-year-old fashion designer Dexter ‘3D’ Pottinger.

Police sources yesterday told The Sunday Gleaner that the man was picked up on Friday, less that 24 hours after Pottinger’s body was found with multiple wounds at his Yarico Place, Kingston 20, house.

“He has not been charged but a knife believed to be the murder weapon and items believed stolen from Pottinger’s house were seized,” said a senior police source.

“He is to be questioned as soon as he acquires the service of an attorney, and we expect him to be charged shortly. We know that we have got our man,” added the cop.

However, the police have so far refused to comment on claims that bloodstained clothes were found when the suspect was held.

Pottinger’s decomposing body was discovered at his home last Thursday, August 31, when a relative went to visit him after becoming concerned about being unable to make contact with him for several days.

It is alleged that some neighbours heard cries for help about 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, but that has not been confirmed by the police.

Last year, Pottinger came out as the ‘Face of Pride 2016’ as the lobby group JFLAG celebrated Pride Week.

Originally from the Waltham Park area of Kingston, Pottinger, who did not hide his sexual orientation, told The Sunday Gleaner that he had come a long way since his first collection in 2001.

BRING EVERYONE TOGETHER

Having been privileged to travel the world and observe the attitudes of people to racial, cultural and other differences, Pottinger said he believed that it was his duty as a human being to bring everyone together to play their part in improving the lives of the marginalised.

“From executives in the bank to older women with whom I come in contact, I have been congratulated for the move. I feel honoured because of the positive feedback from everyone; it means that we are now at a certain level of maturity in our thinking about the J-FLAG community,” Pottinger told our news team as he commented on the responses to his decision to become the Face of Pride 2016.
