Tarrus Riley swoons patrons at Appleton Signature Nights

-

PATRONS WERE in for a treat as they swooned to the musical prowess of ‘Mr Singy Singy’, Tarrus Riley.

Delivering from his repertoire of hits, the Billboard-charted Riley, recently took a captive audience at Kenny’s Italian Cafe in Negril, on a musical journey with Appleton Estate Signature Nights at the helm.

Backed by The Blak Soil band, the artiste’s performance was interspersed with melodious interludes from renowned saxophonist, Dean Fraser. Together, they delivered a world class performance to a willing audience.

Beginning with the warmth of a saxophone solo from Fraser, Riley began his hour-long set with To the Limit as he got up close and personal with patrons, leaving the stage and moving through the audience. The intimate performance continued with Love’s Contagious, Start A New, Superman and Far Away.

Showing his range and solidifying his position as an internationally acclaimed artiste, Riley had patrons singing along to his reggae covers of Michael Jackson’s Human Nature and John Legend’s Stay with You. Old-time favourites such as, Night Nurse and First cut is the Deepest, also found favour with the crowd.

The surprise of the night, however, was when Riley took Fraser from his saxophone duties to help deliver a strippeddown version of Major Lazer and Ellie Goulding’s collaboration, Powerful. Also making a guest appearance was Zagga, who delivered the single, Free Up, alongside Riley.

After concluding the show, Riley was invited for an encore performance and roused the audience to sing along to Never Leave I, Just the Way You Are and She’s Royal.

Tamika West, marketing manager, J Wray and Nephew Limited, spoke to Riley’s performance, saying he “delivered nothing short of a sensational performance for the fourth stop of Appleton Estate Signature Nights. The combination of his signature musical style and the warmth of Dean Fraser on saxophone, made for a truly perfect pairing with Appleton Estate. Negril offered the perfect backdrop for this memorable experience completed with the responsible enjoyment of our Signature X-Ale cocktail. We thank our patrons for coming out and we are looking forward to sharing more experiences to last a lifetime, as the Appleton Estate Signature Nights series continues.”

The next staging of Appleton Estate Signature Nights will be held on Thursday, October 26, at Montego Bay’s Pier 1, featuring a live performance by Agent Sasco.
